Design for the Roses
In connection with our new artist’s book design for A Little Later, we also explored elements from the publication to tie into an appealing marketing campaign to promote the book and related exhibition. Veering from the similar work we did for the artist’s first book project, The Memory Room, instead of capturing an overall look of the work, we focused on one of the elements within—a selection of texts and images titled “Rose Portraits.”

The artist’s portfolio of beautiful and haunting photographs of both real and faux roses was carefully reviewed in order to select the absolutely perfect blossoms to represent the work on postcards and posters.

This motif allowed us to literally fill our neighborhood with roses—a burst of color and the feel of springtime, which is always quite welcome in our cool climate. The poster was also available to guests at the private opening. Some told us later that they framed the poster as a work of art to hang in their homes. As always, we love these wonderful intersections between art and design.
